Above Ground Tanks

Andronics has developed its own Sonic Sensor which is fitted underneath the tank. Sonic waves are transmitted through the steel to determine the level of LPG within the tank while the ambient temperature is also measured to adjust volume calculations according to temperature. This results in a height accuracy of +/- 1%. Readings are taken at configurable time intervals and messages are composed and sent when:

  • levels reach 40%, 30% and 20% of tank capacity (configurable)
  • a low battery condition is detected
  • the tank is refilled
  • pre-determined time intervals (e.g. 1 day, 1 week, 1 month)

This allows the LPG Distributor to schedule deliveries according to the actual levels in customer tanks and not the predicted levels. This removes the possibility of a customer’s tank running dry and the associated expensive emergency refill. The cylinder (300mm x 125mm dia.), is fitted to the lifting lug on top of the tank or in a suitable location nearby. The cylinder contains circuitry for level measurement, a satellite modem, and a battery. The batteries will last for a minimum of three years (anticipated 5 year lifespan) without replacement under normal usage. The units have been certified and approved for Ex, ATEX, and UL. Please note: the Sonic Sensor can monitor levels in ANY SIZE OF TANK.
